Confirmed Zombies

Sorry for such a long delay since the shocking last post, but I have been very busy. I owe you guys a bit of an explanation for the last post.

As you most likely know last few weeks been in a bit of a funk being all emo over Maxine and then her disappearance. The holidays helped visited family for a few days then back to casa de Jared for more eve tournament training. Then a few days after getting back someone from the CDC of all places came to my apartment and started asking about Maxine. Talked for a while and seems that few other people have experienced similar symptoms as Maxine had before she disappeared. This was a bit odd to say the least, and only strengthened my desire to avoid going into public or really out of my apartment.

Hanging out in my apartment watching TV and playing eve was it for a few days then I noticed someone stumbling around outside my window. Watched it aimlessly wondering around for a few minutes, in just a t shirt, it was barely 30 outside. After about 20 minutes of watching this person, and at least 5 minutes of it trying to chase a squirrel the police and EMT showed up. As soon as they got there it started stumbling toward the police and EMT. Once they closed the EMT came forward and tried to wrap a blanket around the person, but he had other ideas it seems and lunged at the EMT and bit him on the arm. At this point the cops tased the guy and cuffed him and drug him to the ambulance.

At this point I sat in my chair for good hour or so knowing what I saw, but unable to truly grasp it. This was a zombie outbreak, that thing I saw in my backyard was a zombie, Maxine was a zombie, it all fit together. There were some oddities about it, after turning into a zombie it seems to take a few days for the zombie to regain more function and movement, or it might just have been Maxine's case was odd. Well after I accepted it I made the last post and decided to go make sure that I wasn't just insane, I do have a thing for zombies and was afraid it might just be affecting my judgment.

I can say after a few days of observing, and experiments, these things are Zombies. Spent an entire day watching out my windows to see if I could see other undead stumbling around saw two, one obviously had a broken arm and attacked a large great dane that belongs to the guy that lives down the street. I think the dog might have gotten the best of it but they went around the other side of the house and I lost sight of them. All of these sightings and what I was able to find online about what was going on here, and what I was able to look up in my copy of the zombie survival guide I was convinced.

After accepting the truth, I knew what I had to do. Made a list of supplies I had on hand, and made sure my apartment was secure. Fortunate for me, I live on the 2nd floor of my house with only a single staircase and door leading down to the 1st floor, and my friends said I was nuts for picking a 2nd story apartment because of zombies, ha showed them. I was low on food, the water and power still on thankfully. No real big news about any disturbances other places so it must still be very local. After filling up everything I had around with water, just incase the water stopped flowing, I got ready to head out to get more food supplies. Unfortunately only had a few more hot pockets and half a jar of peanut butter on hand, so really didn't have to much of a choice about venturing out to gather more.

I throw on some tight fitting clothing grab rusty, my trusty crowbar featured at the top of this blog, and my backpack to stuff supplies into. Now, you are suppose to go on foot as using a car has many drawbacks, but damn it I'm an American and I was going to drive. I make it out to my car pretty hassle free and head toward Main Street. Driving slowly keeping an eye out for my little undead friends it seems pretty clear at first, but quickly becomes apparent that Ada has been closed down. All the stores are dark and notice in the distance both North and South that the road has been blocked off with concrete barricades. Unsure of what to do I sat in one spot for to long and crapped my self when one of them slammed into my car window as I saw there thinking. I sped off and headed toward the local community market hoping still was some food there.

Like the rest of the town the market seemed to be shut down no lights the doors were still intact, and it looked clear. Doors where locked, liked I expected, short work for ole rusty and I was in using the flashlight from my car I slowly made my way through grabbing canned goods, and anything that would keep incase the power went out and I lost refrigeration. Filled the backpack and was on my way out, feeling pretty good about my 1st looting experience, but I must have made to much noise breaking the door or my running car attracted its attention but in the door way was the same zombie that slammed into my car window. It was a female one college age like most people in this town and blocking the only way out of the store.

I decided to do some risky test, and they are slow, could out pace her at a quick walk. The zombie was able to corner change directions better than I expected and kept her balance pretty well the few times she got to close and I had to shove her back. Then there was only one last test to try. Few good swings broke arm and collarbone for sure, she acted like nothing happened at all. One good swing to the head and sickening crack and she fell like a puppet with the strings cut. That was the last straw completely convinced, grabbed my backpack of supplies and ran back to the car and back to my apartment.

Have about 3 weeks work of food and water if everything got shut off today. I should be pretty good till then. Pushed my giant couch down the stairwell to help barricade my door shut and covered all the windows so they wouldn't see any movement and get attracted to my apartment.

Sorry for such a long post, but there was a lot of stuff to cover. Will keep everyone here up to date as things happen and I find out more. Remember keep doors and windows shut and locked don't go outside unless you must the dead are among us!

Jared, I'm glad I found your blog! I live in town, do you know whats going on around here?

seriously, you think there's zombies? I've been seeing weird stuff too. But zombies? Thats supposed to be pulp fiction.

Either way get a hold of me if you can. I'm getting pretty nervous the longer this crap goes on.
